Until the Dissolution of the Monasteries by King Henry VIII in 1536, Evesham had an abbey, located immediately to the south of the Bell Tower (on the right of this photograph); the paving slabs indicate where the walls were.    The Bell Tower was the last part of the Abbey built, being completed just before the Dissolution.

This was undertaken as part of a possible publishing commission relating to the Battle of Evesham anniversary, and was done early in the morning in the hope of favourable conditions (perhaps I may have been a little too early, although the overcast conditions didn't help)
