"Gordon" is a War Department locomotive dating from the Second World War, and was formerly on the Longmoor Military Railway before coming to the Severn Valley Railway.  The locomotive is named after General Charles Gordon, of Khartoum (and nothing to do with the "Thomas the Tank Engine" character of the same name).  "Gordon" is the engine I would most like to see in steam again on the Severn Valley Railway, but as of the beginning of 2024, there are no immediate plans to steam the locomotive, partly due to its success as an Engine House attraction.

This marked the first use outside my home of the flashgun I bought in late 2022, and the photograph replaces an image taken just over five years earlier in January 2019.
