Penrhyn Castle
This is a National Trust property in Gwynedd, overlooking the Menai Strait.  The building dates from the 1830s and was constructed as a residential building rather than a fortification (a manor house had earlier stood on the site).  It has a somewhat controversial history, being involved first in the slave trade, and then with worker disputes in the local slate quarries in the late 19th/early 20th centuries; the effects of the latter are still being felt to this day.
