Sutton Hoo
In 1938, the owner of the Sutton Hoo estate in Suffolk commissioned an archaeological investigation of burial mounds on the site.  The initial investigations revealed some traces of Anglo-Saxon life, but a lot had been lost to either grave robbers or failures of previous digs, but in 1939, the largest mound on the site was excavated and found to be untouched.  It contained the remains of a large ship burial for an Anglo-Saxon king, along with various grave goods, including the remains of an iron helmet decorate with bronze plates.

The estate is now owned by the National Trust, and reconstructions of some of the artifacts can be seen on site.
