A more head-on view of the Castle. Although owned by the National Trust, the building is not open to the general public; it is rented by the John Lewis Partnership as a hotel for its employees (the partnership was responsible for the repair of the building after it was acquired by the National Trust).
I did reshoot this image in 2026 from my return ferry to Poole, but by this point the sunny conditions of the morning had become more overcast, and I consider the original to be of better quality.
