Chirk Castle
This is a National Trust property in North Wales, just on the border with England.  It dates from 1282 when it was constructed as one the "Marcher Fortresses" of the reign of King Edward I, but over time became more of a residence than a fortress.

I have made one visit to the property as part of my 2024 North Wales holiday, but I would consider it within reasonable distance of my home should I want to visit again.
