This room is named for Parliamentary general Henry Ireton, who supposedly slept here prior to the battle of Edge Hill in 1642. However, as the guide book points out, Packwood House is some distance from Edge Hill, so exactly how "prior" to the battle is open to debate (if he did actually stay at all).
